The interpretation centre

Inaugurated in 2018, the new learning centre is a fantastic way to delve into past, present and future construction methods and life on the Ile d’Oléron island, thanks to its cutting-edge interactive layout. Wander around the garden and explore the buildings, all of which have been renovated using eco-materials as part of a community project.

As yesterday’s techniques influence today’s choices for a sustainable and economical world… In 2018, a museum has been added to the Peasant’s eco-house, with the objective of promoting the ways of building and inhabiting Oléron Island, from yesterday to tomorrow.

At all ages, you’ll be able to get hands-on experience by touching the architectural models and the materials in the materials library! Videos, audio testimonies and interactive animations will immerse you into Oléron’s villages and ecological hamlets of the 21st century.

Educational displays and workshops for the younger ones.

Practical courses and training on ecological materials, guided tours with commentary of the village, conferences, and events.

Visitor’s guides and films subtitled in English.
